Gleadhraich is a 4 piece band from Dundee. They formed in 2010 while students at Carnoustie High School to perform one track together at a charity concert for Level 8 Projects. The response they received and the buzz the band got from playing together was so great that they decided to make it a permanent thing. They hit the live scene in 2011 having built a repertoire and were well received.
Since then the band has performed at some major events appearing alongside some quality acts and in front of some very big audiences. They spearheaded Dundee’s City of Culture bid. They have also played for the London 2012 Olympic Torch and the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton. 2013 was a land mark year which saw them awarded with the Angus Cultural Ambassadors Award and launching their debut EP, ‘Pipe Dreams’.
Amy McDonald said of Gleadhraich, they are “wicked. Their sound is very contemporary”. Gleadhraich have also released a single ‘Skirling Ska’ and a follow up EP entitled ‘Where We’re From’.
